Alternative Learning Environment

Harmony Grove High School offers an alternative learning environment program to select students.  Placement in this program is dependent on the needs of the students involved and if the students possess multiple at-risk characteristics.  Placement in the alternative learning environment is designed to be supportive to the student and to provide the student with a learning environment that is more conducive to their learning style.

The program is designed to provide ALE students with a smaller teacher student ratio and more counseling support to address specific student characteristics.  Due to the smaller teacher and student ratio the program is able to provide a greater degree of differentiated instruction.

Students within the ALE program participate in all extra-curricular activities, school clubs, athletics, and have the same opportunity to select the full range of elective courses as all other students.

In order to provide a more specialized content some subjects are provided through digital learning which is self-paced and allow students to work in an atmosphere free from other normal classroom distractions.

Parents and students interested in placement in the ALE program should contact the Counselor’s Office to set up an appointment to discuss options and to determing if ALE would be the best placement for the student.
